7:00 pm: South Florida Tamburitza Folk Orchestra Monday Night Rehearsals

Sep 28 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Croatian American Cultural Club
849 SE 8th Ave
Deerfield Beach, Florida 33441
USA

Join us for Tamburitza Orchestra rehearsals every Monday night from 7 to 9 pm at the Croatian American Cultural Club in Deerfield Beach. This is the only group of its kind in Florida and the only group in existence in the southeastern United States. All ages are welcome,  14 yo  and up. You do not have to be Croatian to join all we require is a desire to play  music. Lessons are 20 dollars per month.

We have Tamburitza instruments available to loan out to anyone who is interested in joining or wanting to learn to play. Anyone playing any stringed instrument is welcome. Common American instruments that play in a Tamburitza orchestra are the guitar, violin, mandolin, bass and even the accordion. The group primarily plays & sings Croatian folk songs but does also play any american song that is appropriate for an all string orchestra. Country music is a kissin cousin to these  instruments.

Tamburitza music pronounced Tahm-boo-ree-tsa, is the name for the family of stringed folk instruments native to Croatia. While native to Croatia, the Tamburitza is also the common folk instrument throughout Vojvodina, parts of Serbia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The 5 primary instruments in the tamburitza family are 1. The prim , 2. The brac, 3. The cello, 4. The Bugarija and 5. The acoustic upright Bass. All the melody instruments are tuned G D A E with  each instrument tuned 1 octave lower than the other. The instruments are primarily picked and tremolo'd.  If you would like an in depth explanation of the instruments you can go to www.tamburitzaorchestra.com
