Tropical house concerts are special. On the back patio, undercover, but surrounded by the palm foliage of the Springs, a fortunate group of listeners were treated to the talents of a ‘local’ troubadour. Though Jack Williams often speaks about his less than stellar early experiences living (3 times) in South Florida, he has come to realize that there are appreciative, music loving people everywhere; you just have to find them. As an army brat, Jack lived all over the globe and as soon as he made a friend, the family moved on. Fiercely independent and determined, this singer songwriter who considers himself a South Carolinian, entertains with virtuoso guitar licks and songs that draw his audience in. His presentation is truly unique and after experiencing over 25 JW concerts in 12 years, his show is as fascinating as ever. Each new cd has displayed the growth of a consummate musician, who in his early years played jazz trumpet, electric guitar and led many rock bands on tour throughout the land.
Jack Williams should and could have been a recognized brand across America. But Jack chose a path of his own. His connection with his listeners is intimate and he has forged a relationship that has the venues he plays SRO all the time. Occasionally he will support Tom Paxton’s shows or friend Ronny Cox, but almost all the time it is Jack and us. And we’re the lucky ones.
