Last Saturday night at the Lighthouse Cafe was yet another great night!
Joel Zoss played a great set and charmed the audience with tales of blues icons Leadbelly and Elizabeth Cotten, not to mention his colorful rich voice and adept playing.
Von Henry & Neil Bacher – Wow! If you like jazz and some of the great jazz standards that colored the famous movies of the 40’s 50’s & 60’s, you should spend a night with Von & Neil. Von’s phrasing is right on the money, and Neil’s comping and complex harmonic structure is a treat. The added bonus was that Neil and I knew each other from U of M Jazz school back in the early 70’s – so we had a great reunion at the same time.
July’s gonna be a little crazy, so look for our next show in August – details to follow. Thanks for everyone who has attended our shows, and if you haven’t yet been to the Lighthouse, please give us a try sometime. We have a cozy, quiet ‘listening room’ with great acoustics – all of the musicians that have played there love the room; a great testament and a great reason to enjoy a night with us.
As always, many thanks again to Barry White & Valerie Wisecracker & the Folk Club of South Florida for doing the lion’s share of finding the great musicians we’ve had play. If you have any questions, feel free to email me: michael@dragonfly129.com
All the best,
Michael Henry
