SUNSHINE STOMPERS

It might not be fair to the folks strolling Coconut Grove or some
other walking area of Miami tonight because we took The Sunshine
Stompers right off of the street and had them give up busking for the
evening. And this is the kind of stuff you would stop and listen to, tap your
toe, and throw in some coin. Sunshine Stompers are South Florida’s own
Dixieland duo. Al Slick and Marc Slack bring their years of playing
experience and wide musical; influences to this duos interpretation of early
jazz, blues, gypsy jazz and folk tunes. Slick and Slack share vocals with
Slack on strings and Slick on percussion and Mississippi saxaphone.
Vintage instruments are often used to get that days gone by tone. The
Stompers have specialized in educational, arts and historic venues besides
years of street busking. They have played Dade College, the Barnacle,
Montgomery Botanical Center, Bakehouse Arts center to name just a few. If
you ever wondered what would have happened if Django sat in with Jimmy
Rodgers or Hank Williams, well, you get our drift. Val says, “To me it’s as if
Django met some hillbillies in the 1920’s and formed a band. It’s really cool
banjo/guitar/percussion stuff.
When musicians have been playing together for as long as these guys,
you hear a natural flow, a synergy that only can develop over time. It will be
so nice to sit back and just relax for an evening, sip something agreeable
and just listen. Check out their stuff on YouTube; their website is a little
skimpy.  http://sunshinestompers.webs.com
