New Album from Elizabeth Lockhart

Posted by bwolfsohn - March 28, 2019 - Uncategorized

For as long as she can remember, singing has been an integral part of Elizabeth Reece Lockhart’s life. Even when she was six, her rich voice brought tears to church members’ eyes during solo performances as she delivered the gospel with a wide, full-range of vocals in Oklahoma City. Music has continued to be a large part of Elizabeth’s life. While in elementary and high school, she won numerous awards in statewide vocal competitions. She was selected to open for Reba McEntire at age 12. Later, she chose Opera Performance at North Carolina School of the Arts, reaching the professional status of opera singer with the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony Opera Theatre and the Piedmont Opera.

Elizabeth spent most of her early career performing classical renaissance music and art song literature from around the world. But it was when she began to expand into the world of blues, traditional spirituals, folk songs and ballads, that she created her uniqueness by blending all of these musical influences into her contemporary songwriting and guitar playing. She has the ability to tug at your heart strings with her melodies as her words and vocals remind you about the realness of life.

As an artist, she works hard to create songs that speak to and inspire others.

She has also dedicated much of her time to supporting and encouraging her listeners to overcome the challenges of life, love, heartbreak and finally redemption. Her songs tell the story of a life-long journey to find love and understanding through music. Love comes in many forms…love of self, family, mankind and yes ‘sweethearts.’ By sharing an authentic voice and perspective to music, she hopes that same authentic voice and honesty encourages greater communication among all mankind.

Her music always communicates. Her voice connects. It is contemporary, and it is deeply honest.

On Master Key, the Oklahoma-born songwriter continues her romantic style of writing. It sets off with the warm, intimate tone of her expansive vocal range combining a deep and theatrical delivery with her folk guitar playing style. Lockhart co-produced and Chris Rosser engineered the album along with guest performances by these highly acclaimed folk/Americana and world music players, including April Verch, Chuck Brodsky Chris Rosser, Isabel Castellvi, Billy Cardine, and River Guerguerian.

Master Key is a twelve-song collection of smooth, romantic tracks that gently draw the listener in, leading them on a journey, from the soothing piano sounds of ‘Lifer’ to the more dramatic and descriptive narrative and cello swells of ‘Widows Walk.’ Lockhart combines ancient ballads with her original contemporary folk compositions. Weaving together elements of classical, folk, world, pop and blues, she delivers rich vocals, dreamy lyrics, haunting stories and melodies with a soulful and contemporary feeling.

Have a listen to her incredible work as an artist, musician and songwriter on Spotify, Apple Music or your favorite music platform. Here is her pre-release single ‘Lifer.’
