Melbourne-based duo FM Thread

FM Thread Introduces Their Music With Introspective Indie-Folk EP, Evergreen

Melbourne-based duo FM Thread are stepping onto the scene with their debut EP Evergreen, recently released. Matthew Campbell and Floyd Graham have combined their musical talents to create an indie-folk style of singer-songwriter music that is introspectively vulnerable in its lyricism and soft and sweet in its instrumentation.

Evergreen is the first installment of a 2 part EP release, with the other EP slated for release later this year.  Evergreen showcases the duo with 4 tracks, each exploring a different topic of the nature of life – greed, home, religion, and childhood being just a few of the topics covered. Opening with the single “Highways” FM Thread dives into the familiar feeling of comfort and safety you get when you are traveling to that place you call home.  Previously released in late 2019, “Higher” showcases the duo’s eloquent lyricism as they bluntly sing about the humanism of wanting more before drifting into a soft segway into “Wildfire”. “Wildfire” is an emotionally introspective song about faith that showcases powerfully intimate vocals from singer Matthew Campbell. The EP closes with “When We Were Young”, a tale about a high schooler who lives out romances in his dreams, and is a teaser for the second chapter of the EP where this theme will continue.  Throughout the tracks, Campbell’s Bon Iver-esque vocals are showcased against Graham’s innate ability to create a heavenly acoustic soundscape with his quintessential soft guitar picking. Overall, Evergreen is an outstanding showcase of the nuances of FM Thread whose sound pulls on the heartstrings and keeps listeners engaged the whole way through.
