JOHN R. BUTLER

775 NE 125TH Street, North Miami, FL 33161
305-799-7123
Requested Contribution: $10,
members of any folk club $8

This ain’t your mother’s folk music.

Irreverent and probably unrehabitable, John R. Butler is a Southwest Florida musician/singer/songwriter/forward-slash user. Gross Exaggeration Monthly magazine called him “perhaps the most important songsmith of his—and any other—generation.”

Butler has played on stages before thousands of audience members all over the country…just before having been ejected by security, in order that the scheduled acts could get started.

Butler’s 13-year-old dog Robbie travels with him throughout the U.S., basically because he has no other choice. Butler loves puppies, sunsets, sharing and caring and all that other romantic crap.

His breakthrough song, “The Hand of the Almighty” has been played on radio stations throughout the country and has become an underground hit among progressive clergy, divinity students and church janitors.

Butler says, “I am glad that the Judeo-Christian tradition likens us to sheep, whilst God or Jesus is likened to the shepherd. Much better THAT than for us to have been described as, say, cows. For one thing, it would have meant that the 23rd Psalm would have begun, “The Lord is my cowboy…” I don’t think I could’ve handled that.

John will be coming over from Ft. Myers to bring us an always fun and insightful evening,
maybe with some too relevant insights of questionable and better left undefined provenance.
